NSW MP to introduce Bill making Motor Neurone Disease a notifiable disease 

Independent Member for Murray Helen Dalton will next week unveil plans to introduce a Motor Neurone Disease (Notification and Data Collection) Bill 2026. The goal is to make is to make MND a notifiable condition in NSW so every new diagnosis is formally recorded and publicly reported. 

 

Mrs Dalton will announce the draft Bill next Tuesday 18 November at the launch of Parliamentary Friends of Motor Neurone Disease at NSW Parliament, alongside leading neurologist Professor Dominic Rowe AM and families with living with this insidious disease. 

 

“Making MND notifiable is a practical step NSW can take now to strengthen care and sharpen research,” Mrs Dalton said. “This cross-party forum will lift awareness and drive action through Parliament.”
