Helen Dalton secures $12.2 million in ongoing funding for vital regional Family Care Centres

Independent Member for Murray, Helen Dalton, has successfully lobbied the State Government to provide $12.2 million for seven Family Care Centres in Griffith, Goulburn, Grafton, Armidale, Cowra, Muswellbrook and Moruya.

The funding is for Tresillian Centres which provide essential practical and emotional support for new parents and their babies.

“It’s fantastic news that this support for families will continue to be funded,” Helen said. “Regional and rural parents and families are in constant need for exactly this kind of support.”

“When I found out that these services were at risk of closing forever, I immediately brought this issue to the attention of NSW Health Minister Ryan Park MP.”

“He quickly saw the risk this posed to regional communities and moved to find the funding needed to keep these vital services going.” “It’s a great result for everyone,” Mrs. Dalton said.

CEO of Tresillian, Rob Mills welcomed the ongoing support from NSW Health, writing to Mrs. Dalton to express his relief and thank her for her intervention.

The deadline to renew funding for the Rural and Regional Family Care Centres was due to expire on the 30th of June, 2023.

Part of this new funding will be used to help build Trisillian’s new permanent facility in Binya Street, Griffith.

“The parents I’ve spoken to are genuinely relieved that this vital support will continue,” Ms Dalton said. “This is a huge win for regional communities.”
