Murray-Darling Basin communities are NOT a political football

For too long, major parties have traded away our Basin communities for votes in city electorates.

They silence the voices of the people who live here, while chasing easy headlines and feel-good slogans.

But let’s be clear:

$26 BILLION of our food and fibre comes from the Basin every year.

That’s 1 in every 3 dollars of Australia’s agricultural exports.

Without Basin irrigation, there IS no Australia.

Yet politicians keep asking:

“How much can I sell out the Basin to win the next election?”

Instead of asking:

“What’s right for the Basin? What’s right for Australia?”

Basin communities deserve better. Political games are destroying livelihoods, families, and our national economy.

It must stop — NOW.

No more water buy backs!
