Metering Madness: NSW Water in Chaos
Environmental water flows across NSW have been suspended – not because of drought, but because the very authorities in charge admit they can’t even understand their own rules.
The Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder has confessed flows were halted after discovering the water authorities don’t understand the water-sharing policies they themselves wrote.
The result? Millions of litres of environmental water now in limbo – and serious questions about whether farming families have had water unlawfully taken.
This is proof of what locals have said all along:
We don’t have a water problem – we have an accounting problem.
If you can’t measure water, you can’t manage it.
The NSW Government and the Murray Darling Basin Authority can’t meter. They can’t manage. They’ve admitted failure – and rural communities are paying the price.
It’s time Premier Minns came clean. Rural Australians deserve answers. We deserve accountability. And we deserve leaders who know how to manage water, not waste it.
