Federal Royal Commission Into Water

In 2026, Australia must finally have a Royal Commission into water.

Without water, we have no Australia. Yet years of political decision-making have damaged our waterways, weakened rural communities, and put our future at risk.

The evidence of mismanagement is clear. The Murray–Darling Basin and the ongoing decline of the Coorong show how badly water has been handled in this country. This crisis did not happen by accident. It is the result of political decisions.

Only an independent Royal Commission can properly examine what has gone wrong and require decision-makers to give evidence under oath. That level of scrutiny is long overdue.

Australians are already paying the price. Communities lose billions of dollars every year because water is grossly mismanaged. A thorough, independent inquiry would expose waste, end damaging practices, and deliver lasting reform.

I am calling on every MP in Australia to back a Royal Commission into Australian water. And I urge every voter to ask their local representative
