DENI PRE-SCHOOL
Today I inspected the site of the new preschool at Deniliquin South Public School alongside Jack Bond, CEO of Edward River Council, Mayor Ashley Hall and Principal Liz Dudley.
This has been a long time coming for Deniliquin.
For years our town has faced a serious shortage of early learning capacity. Families have had limited access to local preschool enrolments, with many forced to look outside town or rearrange work and care arrangements to secure a place.
I have pushed hard to address what was effectively a childcare desert in Deniliquin.
This new co-located public preschool will make life easier for working families. One drop-off. One school community. A smoother transition into Kindergarten.
The facility will cater for around 40 children a day, with purpose-built rooms, outdoor play space and dedicated staff areas. It is part of the broader rollout of 100 new public preschools across regional NSW, and Deniliquin was selected based on clear educational need and projected demand.
Importantly, it will be fee-free.
Following the fire at Deniliquin High School last year, this build also sends a strong message. Education in Deniliquin remains a priority.
This is a real win for local families.
We have waited a long time for it.
