A reprieve, but the fight is far from over.
WIN Network has today confirmed a short-term, three-month agreement with Network 10 to continue broadcasting across Griffith, South Australia’s Riverland and Mount Gambier. This means services will not cease on 1 July 2026 as previously announced and that’s welcome news for our communities.
But make no mistake I will not be taking my foot off the accelerator on this issue. Three months is not a solution. It is a pause.
WIN was clear about that themselves, saying the agreement gives them time to “attempt to find a path forward and address the structural challenges” facing regional broadcasters challenges that are not unique to WIN or our communities, but reflect the commercial realities every regional broadcaster in Australia is grappling with right now.
I will continue to lobby Minister Wells, WIN and Network 10 bosses.
